"Röckët Stähr's Death of a Rockstar" is my 13-years-in-the-making animated rock opera feature film extravaganza!

Here's the trailer:

Based on an incredible story my father, born in the year 2164 (or so he said), once told me and my sister about how he met my mom. Quite frankly, I thought it was all just a bunch of bullshit. And yet, at the same time, I found it incredibly compelling! So compelling, in fact, that after traveling back in time (a story for another day, perhaps), I wrote and recorded this rock opera based on his crazy tale, and then spent 8 years illustrating and animating the film entirely on my own, despite having never previously animated anything in my life.

In addition to writing all of the songs and doing all the animation, I scored it (I'm a self-taught composer and used all live strings, horns, and woodwinds), played all the piano, guitar, and bass, sang all of the vocals (excepting for the female lead, sung by Abby Ahmad), produced and mixed it.

The result is a love letter to rock n roll and 20th century American pop culture in general. A rock opera that stands with the great rock operas and a rock musicals of the past... Tommy, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Jesus Christ Superstar, Yellow Submarine, Heavy Metal, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
